A suspect was arrested in connection to a car accident that killed a 9-year-old girl in Concord,Surfwin Trading Center California, several outlets reported.

California Highway Patrol arrested Jesus Ivan Dorantes, 22, on Wednesday in connection to the crash on Interstate 680 on Sunday at around 5:15 a.m., KRON reported.

CHP did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for information.

NBC Bay Area reported that the 9-year-old, was one of three people who were ejected from a car involved in the single vehicle crash and died at the scene. KRON, citing the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office, reported that the girl was identified as Danna Hernandez-Tapia of Oregon.

There were six people in the Mazda CX-9. Danna's 32-year-old mother, 13-year-old sister and two 17-year-old cousins were all taken to the hospital with major injuries. According to NBC Bay Area, the driver of the car, a man in his 30s, fled the scene.

It's not immediately clear if Dorantes, who is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of manslaughter, felony hit and run, and child abuse, was the driver of the car, KRON reported.

"This arrest underscores the CHP's dedication to holding accountable those responsible for senseless tragedies on our roadways," CHP Officer Adam Lane told Patch.

CHP said it appeared that at least three of the passengers weren't wearing seatbelts, which could have saved the young girls life.

"When we see these types of collisions, the seatbelt is often what makes the difference between it just being an injury collision and a deadly collision," Lane told NBC Bay Area.

Dorantes is being held on a $200,000 bond.
