Around the world, it’s estimated there are 370 million pet cats, which means about a third of homes have a fluffy feline family member. All of which makes International Cat Day a big deal!

Created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), International Cat Day is a day to unite cat lovers across the globe in a celebration that recognizes the unique relationship between humans and cats.

International Cat Day is also a day of action, promoting the well-being, care, and protection of cats in general, including an estimated 230 million homeless cats.

Suggestions for marking the day include:

• Sharing photos of your cats on social media
• Pampering your puss with a favorite treat or toy.
• Donating to a feline charity
• Wearing cat-themed clothing to show your support
